HISTORY AND DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPERTY

 Rainbow's End is a 1.5  acre property located on Windley Key, the 3rd key down the chain toward Key West immediately south of Key Largo, and Plantation Key.  Windley Key is 1.25 miles in length. The Crockett house is approximately 200' east of Rainbow's End and is the closest residence. To the west the closest house is approximately 300' feet away giving Rainbow's End its enjoyable "relative isolation".  Rainbow's End enjoys a full, beautiful, and unobstructed,  Atlantic Ocean vista.

 Shortly after acquiring the property, we discovered it included an exceptional hardwood hammock with a number of native plants and trees. An expert in local plants named and labeled each specimen.   Permanent placards were later placed at the base of many of the representative trees and plants. These include 26 full-grown Gumbo-Limbo trees, 2 mahogany trees, approximately 10 palm trees including some "unusual" varieties, a number of large Bougainvilla, a grove of 8 Frangipani, a stangular fig, a Jamaican dogwood  and a lignum vitae. On the ocean side is a unique planting of cactus, several quite large. A detailed description is available in a folder inside the home.

 In referring to property in the keys, land lies either bayside or ocean side. Rainbow's End is ocean side and boasts one of the property's shining stars, our private boat basin. Large enough for eight 25' boats, the basin was completely new as of 2006.  Navigable channels make it attainable in any tide by outboard boats and larger boats during higher tidal conditions.  The entire basin features "cool to the touch" fiberglass top boards.

Earlier this year the basin was deepened and we are now catching “keeper" snapper and lobster, right from the dock.  The basin is just 15 minutes to "Hens and Chickens " reef which has premier snorkeling. Only 20 minutes to the "Hump" (a local fishing Mecca!) and 11 minutes to a favorite Yellowtail Snapper Reef.  All GPS numbers to local fishing hotspots are available to all our guests. In reality, Rainbow's End is perfectly situated for every fishing activity!
